Greenwood High School Student Wins Silver Medal At Asian School Chess Championship, Srilanka

Shraddha won Silver Medal in both the Classical Chess and also in the Blitz Category of the Championship.

BANGALORE, India - Sept. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Shraddha Somanath, an UKG student who represented India as well as Greenwood High International School, Bangalore in the Asian School Chess Championship has bagged Silver Medal in the Under-5 Girls Category of the Championship which was held from 30th August to 6th September 2013 at Hikkaduwa, Srilanka. Shraddha won Silver Medal in both the Classical Chess and also in the Blitz Category of the Championship.

This mega event saw participation of more than 385 children in different age categories from 15 countries including Australia, India, Maldives, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Yemen and Sri Lanka.

Speaking on the grand success, Ms. Niru Agarwal, Director & Trustee, Greenwood High International SchoolcongratulatedShraddha Somanath for her achievement. “She has made our school & country proud and I wish her all the success in her journey of life which has just begun”.She also wished to thank the teachers who have taken the efforts to mould her into a champion. Ms. Agarwal also emphasized on the importance of sports & extracurricular activities in school along with academics.
