Kallor’s new music video, “Broken Sentences” (see a sneak peek here (http://www.youtube.com/ Undercurrent “Undercurrent came out of a burst of creative inspiration I had when I was a resident at Copland House. I was there to work on my piano concerto, which is now finished, and I was so inspired by the experience of living and writing in Copland’s house that I started writing chamber music, as well. “The outer movements of Undercurrent are propelled by syncopated grooves, shifting meters, etc. (It’s a bit of a workout!) I went to hear Laura Metcalf play with her groups Sybarite 5 and Break of Reality, and I knew I had to play this piece with her. She has a fantastic sense of rhythm and a beautiful, warm sound.” -Gregg Kallor, 2013 COMPOSER/PIANIST GREGG KALLOR WITH SPECIAL GUEST LAURA METCALF, CELLO THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2013 AT 7:30 P.M. This is 21st-century music that has clearly absorbed the past and looks to a bright and borderless musical future.” Kallor’s first music video, “Espresso Nirvana (http://www.youtube.com/ Kallor’s previous album, Exhilaration, features his acclaimed song-cycles of poems by Emily Dickinson and William Butler Yeats, and settings of Christina Rossetti and Herschel Garfein, sung by mezzo-soprano Adriana Zabala.
