Follow on Google News | Anderson Center for Autism Interviews Scientist on Startling New StudyBy: Anderson Center for Autism Published on March 20, 2013, the study released by the CDC states that, “Based on parent reports, the prevalence of diagnosed ASD in 2011-2012 was estimated to be 2.00% for children aged 6-17. This prevalence estimate (1 in 50) is significantly higher that the estimate (1.16%, or 1 in 86) for children in that group of 2007.” A shock to all, the information has raised questions from families, the medical community, organizations serving individuals on the spectrum, and others. Amidst the frenzy of “who, what, when and how’s,” Anderson’s leadership team have remained dedicated to gaining more insight on the matter. Stephen J. Blumberg, Ph.D., Acting Director for Science at The National Center for Health Statistics at the, lead the study among many other notable colleagues.
