SEATTLE - Aug. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- If we think moves in the North Seattle Neighborhoods are stressful on humans, imagine the probable anxiety of your pet(s).  We want to provide what might seem to be a few commonsense considerations but from our own experience the “no-brainer”, is easily forgotten in the middle of a move.

1. Update your pet’s identification, whether it be a tag or computer chip, with a contact number that will reach you in the midst of your move.

2.  Ask your veterinary professional to update records and if he or she can make an introduction or referral within his network to his counterpart where you are moving.

3.  Keep prescriptions, treats and food on hand during the move and store it so it is always easy to find and close at hand during and immediately after your move.

4.  Put your pet in a closet or bathroom the day of the move to protect them from all of the drama and movement this day always brings.  Be sure to provide plenty of food and water.

5.  Put a first aid kit together. Preparation is the intent here.  Recommended: non-adhesive bandages for taking care of wounds or to muzzle your pet, cotton towels, tape and hydrogen peroxide along with a board of appropriate size for your pet, peice of wood and plastic line if you need to fabricate a stretcher.

6.  Be double sure to always provide plenty of ventilation and water for your pets.

7.  Prepare their new home as you prepare for your self.  Make them as comfortable in the new surroundings as possible.  Put out their most familiar toys.  Most valuable, is to take a few extra minutes with them through the move.  Great therapy for you and very reassuring  for them.

8.  Begin your new relationship with your new vet asap.  They will be able to advise you of any local laws that you need to be aware of.
