CHICAGO - Aug. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Hymn-writing collective Restoration Project (http://resproj.com) has launched a Kickstarter campaign which began on August 9 to raise $10,000 in 30 days. Funds will be used to create the “Firm Foundation” Sunday School hymns EP series. Visit their campaign page: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jaymathes/restoration-projects-firm-foundation-album-series.

In just 10 days, the group has raised 18% of their goal on the all-or-nothing fundraising platform, Kickstarter.com. The series for which the group is currently raising funds, entitled “Firm Foundation,” will be a collection of classic Sunday School hymns approached in a fresh way. Songs such as “This Little Light of Mine,” “Jesus Loves Me,” and “My God is So Big,” will possess greater theological depth and clarity and a modern musical feel. To date, over twenty people from over six different churches in four states have been involved in the series’ pre-production and songwriting.

“It’s amazing to think that we now have contributing songwriters and musicians literally in cities all over the country, even though we’re based in Chicago: Boise, Boston, Louisville, Madison, San Francisco, Tallahassee – even Thailand!” says group founder, Jay Mathes. “And we’re really excited to see the response we’re getting to our campaign all over the country.”

Restoration Project’s Firm Foundation EP Series Kickstarter campaign ends at 12:50 AM, CDT, on September 8, 2013.

About Restoration Project

Restoration Project started in 2007 as a ministry of College Church in Wheaton, Illinois, under the direction of then College Pastor Jay Thomas. Today, the Project’s core consists of a handful of volunteer songwriters and musicians from all over the country who are dedicated to writing new hymns and restoring the old by taking historical texts and poems and writing new melodies and music for them.

Restoration Project believes that there is “an outstanding, historic catalog of beautiful Christian texts that most of the Church will never hear sung in their lifetimes.” Restoration Project aims to revitalize these texts so that they can “glorify God, edify the church, and share Jesus” with those around them. Restoration Project has already produced two albums: “Restoration Project” (2008) and “Hail the Cross, Our Only Hope” (2011). The group also regularly leads hymn-sing events in the greater Chicago area. View their upcoming event schedule: http://resproj.com/tour.
