DONCASTER, U.K. - Aug. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- As the country enjoys one of its finest summer spells for a couple of years a recent report, At Home with Water, has highlighted energy and water usage in Britain with some staggering results.

This has prompted leading housebuilder Miller Homes (http://www.millerhomes.co.uk/) to highlight some of the key facts in a bid to urge home owners to become more savvy with their energy usage.

"Having water and energy on tap is something that we all take for granted in Britain and it is not until we are questioned over our usage that we begin to think that we could perhaps be more economical," said Steve McElroy sales director Miller Homes Yorkshire. "Some of the statistics are really quite amazing and I'll definitely be thinking of this when I next fill my kettle or tidy the kitchen!"

The report, commissioned by the Energy Saving Trust Foundation in conjunction with key partners, has many recommendations for householders which could deliver savings to UK households.

These include washing clothes at 30°c instead of 50 or 60; only filling the kettle with the amount of water you need - overfilling costs us £68 million each year, showering for a shorter amount of time and using dishwashers at full capacity rather than half loads or washing up by hand. By just showering for a minute less and using the kettle more wisely could save Britons £283 million each year!

"At Miller Homes we actively encourage our residents to be energy efficient by supplying more economical appliances, dual flush toilets as standard and fitting smart meters in homes," said Steve. "But by showering a little less and not filling the kettle to the brim every time they want a cuppa, additional savings to their energy bills could be realised as well as being more energy responsible."

Miller Homes currently has 15 developments across the Yorkshire region with properties ranging from two bedroom apartments priced at £66,995 to five bedroom executive homes priced from £299,950.
