Magician Brings Books to Life in Texas Schools

HOUSTON - Aug. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Magician Chad Chesmark, of Houston, TX, who performs for Disney Cruise Lines, is bringing his brand new reading themed magic show, Books Create Magic!, to Houston area elementary schools this fall. 

 

Chesmark has spent the past 14 years perfecting his magic show on the world’s largest cruise ships. “I’ve performed on over 500 voyages and now I get a chance to use my skills to make a real difference for children in Texas,” said Chesmark.

 

“Everything that I’ve learned in my magic career came from reading books. I really want to inspire children to do the same,” said Chesmark. His reading themed show, Books Create Magic!, is designed to spark students’ imaginations and show them that anything is possible through reading, imagination and a dash of magic.

 

“I wanted to create an assembly where children actually see magical ideas flowing from the same books that they’ve read.” In order to achieve this, Chesmark incorporates into his show the Texas Bluebonnet Books that many schools require their students to read in order to see the magic show. Chesmark said, “I’m a firm believer that helping children develop the habit of reading will contribute to every aspect of their lives.”

 

In Books Create Magic!, the students are the stars of the show. The children will help to make one of their peers levitate, they’ll see buckets of money pulled from thin air, and they’ll even get to see it snow indoors.

 

Chesmark is still performing for several cruise lines and is fighting to keep dates available to local schools. “Because my schedule is so busy between school shows and cruise ships, it’s challenging to create an opening for every school who wants to host the show,” said Chesmark. In order to fit everybody in the schedule, Books Create Magic! will often be performed at 3 different elementary schools on the same day.
