New review Eden Liddelow's latest monograph on surveillance

The author,an Australian scholar who lives in France as well as her home country, has written a new study of Orwell's 1984 which investigates surveillance regimes , nihilism and morality in Britain,the US,France and Australia.

The author, who has taught at RMIT,Deakin University and University of Melbourne, is based in Australia and France. In this study she focuses on Britain, the US, France, and Australia. For each country she offers a socio-political overview of events and opinions prior to 1948, when Orwell's </1984/> brought the concept of Big Brother into the world's  consciousness. Then, in each chapter, she presents close readings of six novels published after Orwell's work, focusing on the themes of nihilism ,fundamentalism, the media and morality. Recommended for research libraries and for readers interested in current literary theory and political formulations based on surveillance and morality.
