CulinariaFestival)
paid tribute to Mexican painter Frida Kahlo on her birthday with their children culinary class ‘
Celebrating Frida Kahlo Decorating Cupcakes.’ Conducted by Zahaira Curiel of Sassy’
s Sweets, the event took place during the grand opening of La Casa Azul Bookstore’
s second store at the legendary La Marqueta, a revival of the historic Harlem flea market.
Aiming to combat health related issues, Culinaria Festival (https://www.facebook.com/
CulinariaFestival)
created cooking classes for children encouraging families to have fun living healthier lives. “It is important to introduce children to food at very early stages,”
said Jakira Torres, founder of Culinaria Festival. “ After each event, we’re simply happy to see how the children embrace what they learn and we know that they are eating fresh food and having fun in the process.”
‘Celebrating Frida Kahlo Decorating Class’ not only provided the children with a chance to decorate and enjoy their cupcakes but they were also able to pick up their favorite books. At the end of the class, the little ones enjoyed goodies from Culinaria Festival contributors. No-Tug hair ties for the girls were provided by
Cabecitas Lindas (

PunkyPunk (

were gifted to everyone that attended the class.
To close the celebration, singer
Alex Berne (http://www.alexbernemusic.com/)
, entertained the public with his melodic voice accompanied by nothing but his guitar. A fun celebration, the event was full of art, music, messy hands and cupcakes
a lo Frida Kahlo.
