By: Baltimore Fashion Week Microsoft, is not only an American multinational software corporation, but one of the top technology gurus in the world. Microsoft is also a household name in and outside of the fashion community. This press conference opportunity will give Baltimore Fashion Week the design mechanism edge to further introduce its audience members to Microsoft through its press conference. “To have a technology media partner as part of this event is one thing, but for the partner to be Microsoft, now we are stepping into some big girl stuff right here. I am so excited for this opportunity. With this partnership, individuals will see that Baltimore Fashion Week is more than just a fashion event, its slowly completing the morphing phase from an event to becoming a philanthropic initiative. I am humbled by this opportunity, and could cry tears because Microsoft said, YES! Unfortunately, we [Baltimore Fashion Week] are not able to take all the credit, Aleta Anderson, CEO and Chief Visionary Officer of All Media Linked worked feverishly to ensure this partnership happened on behalf of both organizations. We are grateful for their efforts,” To satisfy the taste pallet of press conference attendees, appetizers will be provided by Chef Kerm of Chef Kermit Griffin (www.chefkermitgriffin.com). Chef Kermit is a Culinary Historian and well versed in the Art and Culture of food. Chef Griffin is a descendent of the Gullah Culture and earned his bachelors degree in Hotel Resort and Tourism Management from the University of South Carolina. His culture and education are highlighted in his entertaining presentations. Chef Kermit is a member of the Culinary Federation of America and brings to his audience in-depth knowledge of global foods, their history and preparation. Baltimore Fashion Week over the years has incorporated initiatives that reached out to communities all over the county. This reach was achieved by initiatives like the Emerging Designer Competition, open to middle school, high school, and college students; and the Baltimore Fashion Week Scholarship Award. The registration process includes first time college students and current students majoring in various fields. Outside of those initiatives, Baltimore Fashion Week included an award for the Designer of the Year. In 2012, Latonya Dickens of LT Dickens Designs was awarded this recognition. The search is on for the 2013 winner from this year’s designer registration. In 2014, Baltimore Fashion Week will implement another initiative, the Artisan Competition. This competition will be open to artisans that create jewelry out of metals and precious stones. “Our initiatives were created to do more for the community than just provide fashion styles, but to also encourage individuals to continue to reach for their stars – their dreams,” As Baltimore Fashion Week enters into its 6th production year, there is more to this production this year than just sponsors, partners, models, designers, and press. This year fashions will be represented by designers registered from Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, and Mexico. Besides the fabulous international fashions showcasing this year, attendees will be introduced to Baltimore Fashion Week’s elevated seating. Three sections of seating have been included in this year’s production design, just like in 2012, but this year two of the sections will be elevated, Milan and Paris. The 3rd section is New York, gracefully named after the fashion capital of the world. With a total redesign make-over for this year’s event, everyone associated with this event from the design team of Baltimore Fashion Week to its youngest fashion focused guest will be amazed at the thought process put into the runway layout for this year. This new runway design layout, will set the tone for the beginning of a new fashion production era in Baltimore. “I think it makes perfect sense for a trendsetter like Microsoft to host a press conference on behalf of Baltimore Fashion Week in a fashion center like Pentagon City,” Baltimore Fashion Week is August 8 through August 11, 2013. The host venue is the newly renovated and chic DoubleTree/Hilton in Pikesville, Maryland.
