Follow on Google News | Attorney Brian Johnson of Guerra & Johnson, P.C. Comments on Senate Waiver ReformSan Diego immigration lawyer Brian Johnson of Guerra & Johnson, P.C. weighs in on possible changes in immigration law.
Mr. Johnson states his views on the proposed changes in the waiver process, and was quoted as saying, “Even if it’s on the books, the implementation of it is so complicated.” He also weighed in on those immigrants that are in this position. “I don’t see anybody standing up for those people — those who are out of the country. And even if it’s implemented, I feel it will be pulling teeth every step of the way.” At his law firm, Mr. Johnson is focused on keeping families together, and reuniting families that have been separated when one member of the family has been deported, with the rest of the family remaining in the U.S.A. One process for reuniting the family is to get a waiver allowing the family member to request permission to reenter the country, and once again join with his or her loved ones. Currently the law allows for a person to apply for a waiver under certain circumstances, and is already a very difficult process. There are many cases in which a family has lived in the USA for years, raised their children here as U.S. citizens, and the parents then came under scrutiny by the INS and were deported or removed. An I-212 waiver allows the family to reunite, although the process can be lengthy, and difficult to achieve. Changes in immigration law may make it easier, but Mr. Johnson feels that it may not adequately resolve the problem. You can get more information about Guerra & Johnson at http://www.gjpclaw.com. End
