July 8, 2013 - PRLog -- “During the last 10 years the Waste-to-Energy (WtE) sector has grown steadily and now contributes to 23% of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management in Europe, while at the same time landfilling has decreased and recycling has increased. The trend shows that landifilling decreased by 19%, recycling grew by 12% and incineration by 7%.
Wast-to-Energy Plants thermally treat (incinerate with energy recovery) household and similar waste that remains after waste prevention, reuse and recycling by generating energy from it. They are an essential part of both waste management and energy supply network.” – Confederation of European Waste to Energy Plants (CEWEP)

In this context SMi’s 6th annual Energy from Waste conference will present itself as the perfect forum for learning about new advances in the field, presenting attendees with the latest information from technical and market updates in this fast increasing sector. This event will explore the market and provide the perfect platform for attendees to discuss current issues, technologies and innovations in Energy from Waste.

Alan Hartridge, Development Coordinator, Plymouth City Council has commented: “The planning application process can be a tortuous one –particularly for an Energy from waste plant that is to be sited in an urban area. Impacts need to be mitigated, community fears need to be addressed, and lessons should be learned.  I believe that conference delegates will pick up several useful points from hearing the Plymouth case.”
