White Light Pilates a center of excellence for Pilates instruction will be celebrating their grand opening on July 13^th.

Owner May Garrett is excited to share her studio with the San Diego community.  After 15 years working in the pharmaceutical industry May discovered that Pilates was a great way to regain core strength and lose weight after having 2 children.

May’s vision is to bring together two of her life passions.  “I want to bring my clinical cancer research together with my passion for Pilates.”

WLP will offer Pilates to Cancer patients while hosting workshops to teach other instructors how to work with this specialized population.

“I saw firsthand how damaging breast cancer is when my mother in law contracted it 13 years ago,” May explained that her mother in law never regained full mobility of her shoulders.  Lack of exercise and stretching was never a priority of the clinical practice.  May hopes to change this by leveraging her experience with oncologist in the area.

The first cancer related workshop will be on Oct 5^th titled: Pink Ribbon Program - Postoperative Workout Enhancing Recovery with Doreen Puglisi, M.S
