Chinese gun safes manufacturer say thank you to Obama

The trend began with the presidential campaign of 2012. Sales have surged even more by anxiety over the potential for strict new gun rules following the school massacre in Newtown, Conn., in December.

Background checks have soared in recent years, and this year is on pace to be the strongest. Over the first five months of the year, more than 10.1 million background checks have gone through the system, compared to 19.5 million in all of 2012.
