Luxurious Shangri La to Open in Southern India

NOIDA, India - June 29, 2013 - PRLog -- The magnificent five star hotel Shangri La is renowned for its topmost topmost hospitality and brilliant décor. While addressing a leading online media, the Area Manager and General Manager of Shangri La Hotel, Farhat Jamal stated, “Chennai is a city we are looking at. But we want to find good partners who will be compatible with our standard of functioning.”

Approximately 80 properties are owned and managed by the hotel group from all over the world by the Shangri La, Kerry and Traders brand. In the recent time, they are going to open its first Bangalore hotel. Five months back, the Shangri La group has marked debut in Mumbai with the opening of 389 room luxurious hotel. In the year 2005, this group has opened luxury hotel in Delhi. Thus, it is the second venture of this group.

According to statement made by Jamal, “We have had an average occupancy level of 46 per cent for the Mumbai hotel over the past five months, which is a decent figure to start with. The Shangri-La Delhi hotel has an average occupancy level of 75 per cent.”

Other major sectors to be managed by the Shangri La group in the recent time would be MICE, i.e Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions in various states of India. The evaluation suggests that the MICE segment has found 20 percent increment in India annually with a contribution of 20 percent in the business.

Jamal further added regarding the growth and development of MICE in India and quoted, “The MICE market is growing at a fast pace in India. This has generated a huge demand for more hotel rooms and big convention centres. In fact, there is a need for about 1.90 lakh additional rooms for the India market.”

Upcoming projects of Shangri La will cover mainland China, India, Mongolia, Philippines, Qatar, Sri Lanka and the UK. Although, the group is enjoying major presence in the Asian hospitality sector, still it successfully enhances its wings in UK with upcoming Shangri La Hotel in London.
