Advanced Biotechnologies Inc Releases New EBV and HSV-1 Quantitated Viral Load Controls

Columbia, MD – June 26, 2013 – Advanced Biotechnologies Inc (ABI) has released EBV (B95-8 Strain) Quantitated Viral Load Control (Catalog No. T9-107-175) and HSV-1 (MacIntyre Strain) Quantitated Viral Load Control (Catalog No. T9-108-175).

COLUMBIA, Md. - June 26, 2013 - PRLog -- ABI’s new Quantitated Viral Load Controls are intended for use in nucleic acid extraction and amplification procedures alongside unknown samples to determine extraction efficiency, measure the viral load of unknown samples, and validate, monitor, and troubleshoot various molecular testing procedures. Additionally, these new products are useful in training laboratory personnel, developing and validating new molecular testing methods, and in spiking buffers/media to simulate unknown test samples.

The finished products contain purified, whole virus particles suspended in TNE with 0.1% sodium azide at a known concentration of 1.5 x107 virus particles (vp)/ml. Testing methods should include an extraction step to release viral DNA, followed by quantitation of the viral DNA. Viral DNA can be quantitated by real-time PCR using ABI’s Quantitated DNA PCR Controls and Primers.
