June 27, 2013 - PRLog -- With the summer fast approaching, Tripleblaze.com has officially released a list of the top 10 campgrounds in the state of Illinois, two of which are featured on the nation's top 100 best campgrounds list. The Tripleblaze best campgrounds list is compiled using visitors' ratings and reviews that have been collected continuously since 2005.

Illinois' top 10 are scattered all around the state, offering a great showcase of regional recreational opportunities. Although only one campground is located on Lake Michigan, all of the campgrounds are near at least one body of water. Adeline Jay Geo-karis Illinois Beach State Park Campground, voted number one, is located on Lake Michigan, boasting the only remaining beach ridge shoreline left in the state. Others, like Eagle Creek State Recreation Area Campground and Shabbona Lake State Park Campground, offer large stretches of shoreline on different lakes. Mcnair Group Area Campground is located on Illinois' largest man-made lake.

These campgrounds provide plenty of amenities and opportunities for outdoor recreation. Lake Murphysboro State Park Campground offers archery and cabins, while Giant City State Park Campground has plenty of crabbing and cottages. Wildlife abounds at the Pere Marquette State Park Campground, where there are over 230 species of birds and bald eagles can easily be seen in the wintertime.

"This top 10 list does a great job showing the wonderful camping opportunities that exist in Illinois," says Tripleblaze Writer, Kelley Spurlock. "Each campground has something unique to itself while offering a variety of amenities for their campers to enjoy."

Out of the 10 campgrounds listed, 8 are run by the government.  There are 2 private campgrounds that have made their way into the top 10 because of the great experience they offer to campers.
