Follow on Google News | Ford Teams Up With Dreamworks Studios For a “Need For Speed” Film ProjectFord Motor Company will be designing a special Ford Mustang made specifically for the movie adaptation of the Electronic Arts street-racing video game.
This particular Mustang will feature a specialized wide body, 22-in. alloy wheels, and custom air-intakes to cool the Mustang’s supercharged V8 engine. The signature twin-nostril hood will be making an appearance on this vehicle as well. Ford will also be providing a specially built F-450 truck known simply as “The Beast”. Details surrounding the F-450 have not been revealed, but the name alone invokes feelings of size, power, and strength. A second Mustang will be added to the production of “Need For Speed”, also provided by Ford, to serve as a camera car. This will allow Dreamworks the opportunity to film the car racing excitement in a new way and from a different, less-traditional approach. As a symbol, the Ford Mustang represents American values such as freedom and optimism according to Jim Farley, Ford’s Executive Vice President of Global Marketing. The themes presented in the film will look to embody those values, both through the vehicle itself and through the film’s story. The “Need For Speed” movie is looking to pay homage to the car films of the 1960’s and 70’s when unadulterated muscle was a popular selling point of American vehicles. While that power is certainly more refined today, the use of today’s Ford Mustang in the Dreamworks production will still elicit the thrill of watching a classic chase scene or cross-country race. Based on statements released by the film’s director, there will be no shortage of stunts, high-octane action, and powerful vehicles throughout the movie.
