Nationwide SURVEY: Height Is The Biggest Sex Factor

High and Mighty, the UK’s number one retailer for big and tall men reveals the results of its nationwide survey investigating attitudes towards height.

June 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Over 1400 male and female respondents of all heights and sizes participated in the study (between February and March 2013) giving an insight into attitudes relating to height, diet, relationships and lifestyle. All respondents were aged 18 and over and based in the UK.

Survey Highlights Include:

- 62.9% of women think tall men are sexier

-45.1% of men would date a woman taller than them, with 48.9% of men seeking a woman between 5' 7" and 5' 10" (despite the average height of a woman being 5’4")

- Women agree that height is the most important physical attribute of a man followed by grooming and fashion sense

- 71.1% of women want their men between 6' 0" and 6' 6"

- 32.8% of women believe tall men are happier than short men

- 62.1% of women believe that the 'Short Man Syndrome' does exist

Scientific research indicates that man has grown by four inches in the last century, with the typical height now being 5’10”, whilst women have only grown by one and a half inches in the same time, with the average height being just over 5’4”. With mankind growing taller and the ‘tall’ customer base of High and Mighty growing bigger on a daily basis, the company thought it high time to really investigate attitudes towards height and the impact it has in today’s society.

Hollywood is also mirroring real life for once, not just because men are getting taller but because film makers know that women are finding taller men hotter than ever. 62.9% of women surveyed said they preferred men to be between 6ft – 6’6” tall. What’s more, when asked what physical attributes of a man they deemed most important, height beat grooming and fashion sense to the top spot.

“Psychological research has found that women tend to describe their ideal man as ‘taller than average’. Women’s attraction to taller men is likely to be driven by both evolution and positive stereotypes about tall men. Women are likely to associate a tall man with higher social and professional status as well as reproductive potential, making them seem more attractive.”

The Findings Report, entitled A Tall Story, by High and Mighty outlines key findings from the research from both a male and female perspective.
