Ford Weekend at Carlisle a Success with Thousands onsite During Annual Event

CARLISLE, Pa. - June 13, 2013 - PRLog -- After shaking off a soggy day one of event weekend, the 2013 Carlisle Ford Nationals proved once more to be the biggest and best all Ford-themed event in the world.  As a whole, Ford weekend included special guests, autocross, demo rides, onsite installations, seminars and, of course, Ford produced vehicles - nearly 3,000 of them.

Despite the aforementioned wet weather Friday, the day still hosted a large contingent of show cars, both on the grounds and within the undercover buildings onsite.  Special indoor displays included a High Performance 289 get together in Building G, complete with legendary racer Milio Coleman.  Within the fence line, Building T highlighted a wide array of Ford's best, including a an 850+ horse power Super Snake, early '40s era truck, complete with flatbed and Ford tractor, a pair of Starsky and Hutch cars (one movie and one TV) plus a handful of Ford-themed street rods.  Other "under cover" displays included a 20th Anniversary SVT display in and around Building Y, plus the pavilions within the car corral hosted a wide array of cars for sale by owner.

With sun and fun in place for the remaining two days of event weekend, the energy level increased ten-fold.  Cars and people were lined up Saturday, even before the gates opened at 7 a.m. and were eager to step foot on grounds for a day laced with action.  Special Saturday happenings included an autograph session and drifting exhibitions with Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin, Jr., autographs and seminars with Steve Saleen, burnout competitions, a beauty contest and a downtown Carlisle all-Ford-themed parade and street party.  In addition to the Saturday-specific happenings, Ford continued their test-drives at the Carlisle Expo Center, Raptor ridealongs on the specially designed course and autocross ridealongs with the Mobile Mod Center and MRT.  The midway, swap meet and car corral also saw tremendous foot traffic, with guests shopping all day long, including having onsite installations done via the Ford Racing Garage and A&A Auto Stores.

Sunday wrapped the 2013 event with demo and Raptor rides continuing, plus the winners’ lists were posted.  Mid-day, the awards parade took place, honoring many of the cars and their owners who traveled to Carlisle for the weekend.  An M-6007-X302D Crate Engine was awarded to Charles Kelly, a vendor, plus with such a strong focus on the Ford Raptor, guests were able to register all weekend for a Raptor giveaway.  A two-year lease on a new Raptor will be giveaway on Sunday, September 8 as part of the all-new Carlisle Sports and Outdoor Nationals.  

As 2013 wraps, the Carlisle Events team is already preparing for next year's happening.  With Ford celebrating 50 years of the Mustang, it's a sure thing that the event, June 6-8, 2014 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, will be one for the record books.
