Air Force Marathon Slots Available through Charity Partner Air Force Enlisted Village

Fundraising is Easier than You Think and Supports a Cause for the Air Force Family: Widows of Retired Military Heroes

DAYTON, Ohio - June 10, 2013 - PRLog -- If you didn’t get into the sold-out half Air Force Marathon this September, it’s not too late. Charity partner Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV) has slots available for both the full and half marathon at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio on September 21.

To register for the team, simply go to this site and follow the instructions: http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=2076764

To create a fundraising page and begin raising funds go to this site: http://www.active.com/donate/teamafev

Runners can also register for the team by visiting www.afev.us where they simply visit the “Marathon” tab and follow the instructions.

AFEV requires runners to raise a minimum of $500 in order to earn one of the coveted slots in this year’s 17th Air Force Marathon.  “It really amounts to asking only 20 people to donate $1 per mile,” says Jim Binnicker, AFEV president/CEO and retired Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force. “You can email the link to your fundraising page to friends and family or post it on your Facebook page. It’s a quick, easy way to raise funds for a good cause that supports the Air Force family.”

Binnicker also suggests that information about the Air Force Enlisted Village’s mission be included in the emails and posts. The Air Force Enlisted Village is a 501c3 nonprofit organization near Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field that provides a home for surviving spouses of retired military heroes and to mothers of current active duty and retired military members. AFEV’s purpose is to give these women a safe, secure home and to treat them with the dignity and respect we reserve for our own moms. The Air Force Enlisted Village is comprised of two active, independent living communities—Bob Hope Village in Shalimar, FL and Teresa Village in Fort Walton Beach, FL, and an assisted living/memory care community, Hawthorn House, located on the Bob Hope Village campus.
