FREMONT, Calif. - June 7, 2013 - PRLog -- The Documentary titled “A Captain, A uniform, A country” will be the centerpiece project of Afghan Media Broadcasting Company’s series of documentaries.  This story allows us to revisit a time when Afghanistan was peaceful and functioning like any modern nation in the world.  The Story of Captain Inam Gran vividly captures a time known as the “The Golden Era of Afghan Aviation”. Our documentary will outline that era through the prism of Afghan Aviation and the memory of a Captain that became the symbol of Afghan achievement in aviation.  In 1957, Ariana Afghan Airlines partnered with Pan American Airways with funding from ICA (the former name for USAID).  The joint venture between two airlines and two nations was formed. Ariana Airlines became a symbol of pride for a country that was emerging as a modern nation. It was a major event that helped Afghan tourism, and connected Afghanistan to the rest of the world.  The new aviation era made Afghanistan more accessible for foreigners to visit from the outside; and it made traveling within the country much more convenient.  Captain Gran was the first Afghan pilot to earn his captain’s stripes in 1963; becoming Afghanistan’s chief pilot in 1965.  An iconic figure, mentor, and the leader of Ariana Afghan Airlines; he was a man of honor and dignity. Wearing his captain’s uniform with dignity, class, and pride, he was a true “Afghan Gentleman” according to his many friends and colleagues.

Just recently, the project was officially recognized by Pan Am Historical Foundation (www.panam.org).  The website highlights this upcoming project as a part of their historical achievements.  To suffice, the documentary highlights the moving story of a Captain, but also has universal appeal.  In the end, the documentary seeks to provide inspiration, pride, and guidance to many young Afghans; inspiring them to lead the country into the future with their own dreams.   Barmal Gran, of the Afghan Media Broadcasting Company (AMBC), is actively seeking support for the project and welcomes inquiries.
