Author Melinda Bates Presents “Entertaining at The White House" to MPI WestField

GREENWICH, Conn. - May 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Greenwich, CT, May 30, 2013 -- Melinda Bates, author of White House Story, a Democratic Memoir, spoke on “Entertaining at the White House from George Washington to Barack Obama, Dress Swords to Gate Crashers!” to the Westfield Chapter of MPI at The Hyatt Regency in Greenwich, CT on May 16th, 2013.

Melinda discussed her behind-the-scenes look at life and work in the world's most powerful house. Melinda shared key questions with the audience including: Who invented Presidential protocol? How do these events really work? What happens when they don't work the way you planned? How do you constantly create new and original ideas for guest lists, entertainment and decor at events scrutinized by national and international media?



The audience gained an all access pass to the most complex events taking place in America’s most famous House, from a current and historical perspective. Melinda’s humorous and candid back stage stories, created a charming and engaging evening for all.

Breakfast with Tom Hanks, lunch with Michael Douglas, tea with Oprah and Dr. Ruth and dinner seated next to the President were all in a day’s work. From a fabulous East Wing office she organized Easter Egg Rolls for 30,000 guests and State Dinners for 130. The Meeting Professionals International WestField Chapter (MPIWC) was founded in 1989 when it was thought that there needed to be an educational and networking source to directly serve meeting professionals, both planners and suppliers, in Westchester, NY and Fairfield, CT counties.  MPI was that source.
