Cincinnati Works Awarded Grant from The Standard Charitable Foundation

CINCINNATI - May 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Cincinnati Works is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from The Standard Charitable Foundation. The grant was announced today and is for the Phoenix Program, which Cincinnati Works began in 2011 with the purpose of assisting individuals who are or were caught in the street culture in finding a better path, gaining legal employment and reaching self-sufficiency.

Cincinnati Works President Peggy Zink says, “Cincinnati Works is honored to be selected for the grant a second time and appreciates The Standard Charitable Foundation’s commitment to investing in community services. Generous support such as this allows Cincinnati Works to continue assisting individuals in their transition from the impoverished to employed contributors in the community.”

The Standard Charitable Foundation announced its grant to Cincinnati Works along with grants to three other nonprofit organizations.

The organization offers free employment and financial services to qualifying Members, beginning with the week-long Job Readiness Workshop. Cincinnati Works places nearly 500 employees annually, with an average wage of over $9.00. An investment of less than $2,500 per member ends up saving tax payers $30,000 for each employed Member. With 27 percent of the Cincinnati population living below economic self-sufficiency – 316,000 people – the acute need for the orginization's services is clear.
