A May Booth scholarship is awarded to two students per year pursuing an Associate Degree or Bachelor of Arts Degree through an Interpreter Training Program or completion Sign Language Studies Program. The goal of this program is that these scholarship recipients will go on to occupy one of many interpreter jobs available in Michigan. The May Booth Scholarship opportunity is targeted specifically to Michigan residents to fulfill interpreter job openings in the state of Michigan. DHIS has its roots in Michigan and staff members are passionate about serving deaf and hard of hearing older adults in southeast Michigan. There are many instances when a sign language interpreter is needed, such as healthcare appointments, educational settings or financial meetings, thereby necessitating interpreter jobs in nearly every sector. DHIS has a vested interest in passionate and talented sign language interpreters and is proud to be able to offer the May Booth Scholarship to promising students each year.
