Metro Health Names Erin Hansen its 2013 Nurse Exemplar

WYOMING, Mich. - May 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Grand Rapids, Michigan, May 17, 2013 – Metro Health Hospital has named Erin Hansen its 2013 Nurse Exemplar.

The award is given annually to recognize a registered nurse involved in direct patient care at Metro Health who has demonstrated exceptional nursing practice.  Candidates are nominated by their peers. Metro’s Professional Nursing Council evaluates nominations based on the nurse’s ability to deliver outstanding care, stimulate critical thinking in her peers, provide continuous assistance, serve as a mentor, and positively influence the work of the entire health-care team.

Hansen joined Metro Health in 2007 and currently works as a nurse in the Center for Restorative Care.
Her nomination form noted:  “Erin Hansen is one of the best nurses I have worked with. She often goes above and beyond while doing her job. I have heard countless compliments from her patients, they all love her.”

Her nomination went on to say that Hansen demonstrated “quiet leadership” that is greatly valued by her co-workers.  Diligent when it comes to patient care, Hansen is recognized as a strong advocate for her patients and an excellent co-worker who “truly embraces the Metro way.”

Hansen’s nomination also noted:  “Erin is always upbeat, makes others smile because her smile is contagious. Great preceptor, knowledgeable and is continuing her life-long learning by furthering her education in orthopedics. Erin exemplifies Metro Nursing at its best and is very deserving of the title of Nurse Exemplar.”
