Drop-In Micro-Chipping Services Are Being Offered In Centennial, Colorado

Losing your precious pet is an experience nobody wants to have. Sadly, however, 1 in 3 pets go missing during their lifetime; 90% of them are never reunited with owners. A microchip gives your pet the best permanent ID protection.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. - May 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital, in Centennial, Colorado, is offering “drop-in” microchipping on Sundays during the month of May from 3:30 – 5:30pm in addition to scheduled appointments throughout the week. As an added incentive, they are taking 20% off of these services throughout the month of May. This service is available for both their regular clients and non-clients.  Dr. Stone, Dr. Munger and Dr. Benson strongly believe that all dogs and cats should be micro-chipped so that owners and pets can be happily reunited if they are ever become separated.  Because they so strongly believe in pet identification, the three veterinarians decided that all pet owners who have their pet microchipped during May will also be entered into a drawing for a $100 gas card.  Winning this gas card will make it worth the gas you use to take your pet into the clinic within the next 2 weeks!

Microchipping is a procedure that takes just seconds to implant – no anesthesia is required.  This tiny microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, is placed just under the skin between the scapula bones.  The staff at Companion Animal Vet Clinic will then register this unique number with HomeAgain’s micro-chipping database. Most veterinary clinics and shelters own the equipment needed to scan for microchips.  HomeAgain, one of several microchipping services, reunites 10,000 pets with their worried owners every month!

Here at our veterinary clinic, we have numerous examples of the successes of microchipping.  Many people, clients and non-clients alike, will bring in a pet that they have found wandering their neighborhood or on busy streets nearby.  The first thing the staff does is grab the scanner and run it between the shoulder blades of the pet, looking for a microchip.  If one is found, the staff will contact the manufacturer and give them the pet’s microchip number.  Within minutes, they have the owner’s name, pet’s name, phone number and address.  Many times, the owner isn’t even aware that their beloved pet has gone missing.

Last year, a cat was brought into our clinic and we were thrilled to find that it had been microchipped.  After calling HomeAgain to find out who he belonged to, we began leaving messages at the number we were given.  When our calls were not returned after several days, we became worried and mapquested the owner’s address.  One of the staff members went to the location and knocked on the door.  A kind neighbor from next door came out to tell her that the owner had passed away months earlier.  However, this same neighbor shared that the cat that lived there had been given to a gentleman a few doors down.  The technician immediately went to this residence and rang the doorbell.  She explained who she was and why she was there.  The elderly gentleman was so relieved to hear that we had his cat.  She had been missing for days and had not returned home.  He quickly drove to the clinic to be reunited with his precious pet.
A pet microchip creates a forever bond between you and the pet you love. Taking the time to have one placed in your pet will always make it more likely that you will be reunited.  Companion Animal Hospital is hoping that you will see the value in microchipping and make your way to their clinic during May so that you can take advantage of the special pricing!
