DALLAS - May 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) hosted its fourth annual fundraising dinner on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Hilton Anatole hotel with featured speaker and Heisman Trophy winner, Tim Tebow. Approximately 1,300 guests attended the event, which raised more than $1 million. The event also included a car raffle sponsored by Huffines Auto Dealerships, which raised more than $93,000, the highest amount earned by the raffle to date. Money raised from both the dinner and the raffle benefit TCA’s student tuition aid and facilities enhancement programs.

“The event was a great night for families, friends and alumni of TCA to come together and be inspired by such an outstanding athlete and role model,” said TCA Headmaster Dave Delph. “Tim’s testimony was a great encouragement to everyone in attendance, and we were truly honored to have a man of such distinguished character be a part of our fundraising dinner this year.”

Tebow, who was recently named America’s most influential athlete of 2013 by Forbes Magazine, addressed a variety of topics, which ranged from growing up on a farm in Florida to building strong relationships with his teammates on the football field. Although he took time to share some of his most exciting moments as both an NCAA and NFL quarterback, Tebow primarily discussed his faith and how it affects all aspects of his life, including his football career.

Jonathan Evans, current chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys, and Dave Delph led the question-and-answer style discussion with Tebow, which gave audience members an up-close and personal look at the life of the two-time NCAA football champion.

When asked which athlete had been the biggest influence on his faith and career, Tebow mentioned fellow Heisman Trophy winner and Florida Gator, Danny Wuerffel. “I’ve looked up to Danny ever since I was a little kid. He has taught me so much about the importance of staying humble,” Tebow said.

After the discussion, attendees were invited to participate in Tebow-related trivia. Audience members who were able to answer questions about the athlete’s career received autographed footballs thrown by Tebow himself.

The night concluded with an inspiring message from TCA student tuition aid recipient Tobias Kim. Attendees listened to a motivational speech as the student told of his academic journey and numerous successes, including being named a 2013 National Merit Finalist who is now headed to Princeton University. He attributed his scholastic success to the assistance he received through the school’s student tuition aid program, which is generously funded by the TCA community and events like the annual fundraising dinner.
