| One-of-a-kind Corvette Featured as Part of Corvettes at CarlisleCorvette lovers should make plans to converge on Carlisle, Pennsylvania for this year's Corvettes at Carlisle event. As part of the weekend, a one-of-a-kind '63 Corvette will be on display. This '63 has a steel body and is a prototype.
By: Carlisle Events As part of a special display called Chip's Choice, Corvettes at Carlisle is pleased to announce that a very rare 1963 concept car has been secured and will be showcased for the world to see. This car, a Corvette Rondine concept car, was built for the Paris Auto Show and since its birth until at least 2008, was on display at the Pininfarina Museum in Italy. At that point, the car was sold at the famed Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale (Arizona) auto auction. What really makes this car special is that it is the ONLY steel-bodied Corvette ever created. In addition, the car is based on the '63 Corvette chassis and has a 327cid/360-hp V8 under the hood. While the car won't be making laps around the Carlisle autocross track to show off its power, it will be positioned within Building T as part of the Chip's Choice display. In 2013, Chip's Choice will feature this unique car as well as a gathering of other '63 Corvettes. With the new C7 hitting the market, this display highlights a select few of the 21,531 total cars produced 50 years ago. Historically, Chip’s Choice has featured unique collections, cars, displays and themes. It began as a special invitational display of Corvettes that Chip Miller personally selected. Since his passing in 2004, his son Lance Miller, Corvettes at Carlisle event manager, has continued the trend. "I'm so VERY excited about having the only steel bodied Corvette ever produced to be showcased as part of Chip's Choice at this year's Corvettes at Carlisle weekend," noted event manager Lance Miller. "GM commissioned this car through Italian based Pininfarina and it's a must see! We've got the absolute 'best- of-the-best '63s' for our attendees to enjoy seeing up close. Heck, I'm eager to see these amazing vehicles too," continued Miller. "Along with this great machine, we'll have the '63 Asteroid on display too. This is another great car that nobody has seen in about 48 years. I encourage anyone who is a fan of Corvette history to make plans to come to Carlisle in 2013." Gate admission for Corvettes at Carlisle is $15 per adult from early bird Thursday through Saturday of event weekend. Sunday is half-price admission, with a pass costing just $7. A weekend pass which includes Thursday is just $35 and children 12 and under are admitted free to all events at Carlisle. Full details about the car and event are available online now or by calling 717-243-7855. End
