KAI Texas Discusses Impacts of Waste and Inefficiencies at 5th Annual LinCP Forum

KAI Texas President and COO recently took part in panel discussion about how today’s build-design industry professionals manage inefficiencies related to time, materials, and staff in capital building and design projects.

James, AIA, President and COO of KAI Texas, recently participated in a panel discussion at the 5th Annual Leadership in Capital Projects (LinCP) Forum held April 2-3, 2013, in Austin, TX. This year’s forum theme focused on “Conquering Waste & Inefficiencies in Capital Projects,” and focused on bringing together capital project owners, architects, engineers, planners, contractors, and program managers to discuss best practices for maximizing project efficiency.

LinCP Forums are organized by the Institute for Leadership in Capital Projects (I-LinCP), a nonprofit agency headquartered in Austin, Tx. The I-LinCP is dedicated to enhancing capital projects by sharing knowledge with industry professionals through collaborative opportunities. This year’s keynote forum presenters included Carroll G. Robinson, Houston Community College Board of Trustees, and Mary Scott Nabers, founder and CEO of Strategic Partnerships, Inc.

James took part in a panel discussion that focused on ways in which today’s build-design industry professionals manage inefficiencies related to time, materials, and staff. Additionally, James and his colleagues shared personal insights regarding how they indentify and overcome waste to maximize efficiency and increase productivity.  

The program consisted of three key topics: Waste and Inefficiencies – Identification and Impacts; BIM Integration – From Design through Construction to Facilities Management; and The Evolution of Capital Project Design & Delivery on the Public Sector. A panel of keynote speakers discussed each topic at length in conjunction with select moderators. Presenters and panelists included representatives from Parkland Hospital, KGA Architecture, Momark, KAI Texas, UTMB-Galveston, Balfour Beatty, Satterfleid & Pontikes, Carson Design, Intemation, Randall Reaves Esq., Linbeck, PageSoutherlandPage, and the City of Austin. Moderators consisted of Carolyn Karabinos from Balfour Beatty, Oza Bouchard from Leo A Daly, and Rob Roy Parnell from Texas State University.

James is a noted industry leader who has had the privilege to speak on numerous topics nationwide related to architectural solutions, project management and leadership, and sustainable facility design. James and his staff at KAI Texas, a Texas-based design-build firm headquartered in Dallas, collaborate on projects within a wide array of industries, including education, healthcare, and transportation.
