Whiterimage.com to Support “Make the Change & Be the Jam” Event to Fight Human TraffickingTeeth Whitening leader commits to shining a light on modern day slavery
By: Whiter Image According to the BeTheJam.org website there are more slaves now than any time in history in the form of labor and sex slavery. Traffickers prey on kids in schools, malls, theatres, arcades, playgrounds and any common places where kids hang out. There is no perfect profile of who a trafficker could be but often people who the kids know and trust sell them to captors and these criminals make threats to the lives of family members in order to prevent their victims from speaking out. These threats are why human trafficking is difficult to uncover—those who are caught fear the lives of their family members—which is why prevention is so important to the young population. Ultimately, the event hosts believes that awareness is the best form of prevention and detection and believe the “Make a Change & Be the Jam” can be part of those efforts. The human trafficking epidemic is not unfamiliar in the Americas with Hollywood movies like “Taken” showcasing the realities of these elaborate networks. However many Americans are still unaware that these malicious activities occur in the United States and are not unique to foreign counties. The United Nations estimates that 99 percent of human trafficking victims are never rescued making the Be the Jam prevention campaign all the more important. In addition to X-Press It and Whiterimage.com there are other organizations that are involved in the Make the Change Be the Jam event as well as anti-trafficking initiatives. The main beneficiary of the event is End Slavery Tennessee (EndSlaveryTN.org ) who created the Be the Jam youth outreach initiative. End Slavery Tennessee is an established Tennessee organization who helps restore the lives of human trafficking survivors and Second Life of Chattanooga creates awareness that drives action through collaborative relationships with like-minded organizations in order to end human sex trafficking in Greater Chattanooga/ Whiterimage.com has also committed to create national awareness about human trafficking and the importance for companies to get involved to donate revenues to aid in preventative initiatives, especially organizations that work with human trafficking survivors. In collaboration with the Make the Change & Be the Jam event Whiter Image will provide a percentage of all online sales of their highly popular teeth whitening products during the month of May. The Chic Flic Teeth Whitening & Lip Gloss Plumper Pen is one of their most popular products. One of the features of the pen is a small LED light, originally designed for applying the product in a dark environment, that will be used in the flash mob dance “To help shine a light in the darkness of this modern day form of slavery” says Whiterimage.com Director of Marketing Chris Morrison. To highlight the month of May as TN’s Human Trafficking Awareness Month and in collaboration with the “Make a Change & Be the Jam” event, Whiter Image Dental has selected two TN anti-trafficking organizations to be the benefactors of the donated revenues from the Chic Flic sales. End Slavery TN is one of the organizations along with Second Life of Chattanooga (SecondLifeChattanooga.org) Through music and public awareness “Make the Change & Be the Jam” seeks to bring much needed attention to the human trafficking epidemic in the United States and how it affects our youth. The event takes place May 4th between 9am and 6pm at Heritage Fellowship at 316 West Old Andrew Johnson Highway, Jefferson City, TN 37760.
