CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - April 17, 2013 - PRLog -- (Chapel Hill, NC) -- AuctionFirst, a professional real estate auction agency, and the ChromaZones, a local group of award-winning artists that specialize in two-dimensional abstract art, will present a special art exhibition on Sunday, April 21, from 2-4 p.m., in the colorful, contemporary home of Sim Sitkin and Vivian Olkin at 1609 Skye Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.

The event is free and open to the public and coincides with the National Association of Realtors’ 2013 Nationwide Open House Weekend.

Auctioneer/real estate broker Sarah Sonke of AuctionFirst calls the 4500-square-foot Sitkin-Olkin house “Case de Colore” (House of Color) to reflect the owners’ use of rich, boldly colored walls – periwinkle, raspberry, golden yellow, etc. -- throughout the interior.

“Those colors will provide dramatic backgrounds for the ChromaZones’ abstract paintings,” she noted.

Featured in the News & Observer’s Real Estate section recently, “Case De Colore” was built in 1987. Sitkin and Olkin bought it in 1994 and have renovated and added on to it twice since then. They’re now building another home closer to downtown Chapel Hill, so they’ve commissioned Sonke to sell the house at auction in May.

“Sim and Viv are offering the artists an intriguing venue to showcase their work, ” Sonke said of the upcoming exhibition. “And, in turn, the artists are providing them with original, abstract art to complement the interior during Sunday's open house.”

Artist Susan LaMantia of Cary will join the ChromaZones for this show as honorary guest painter.

AuctionFirst and the ChromaZones collaborated on another art show recently, that time in a mid-century Modern house in Raleigh. The event was a tremendous success for both entities, according to Sonke.

Sonke and the ChromaZones invite anyone interested in abstract art and bold, contemporary interior design to join them for the April 21 exhibition and open house in Chapel Hill.
