By: Bank of Oak Ridge “The purpose of our free shredding and anniversary event is to celebrate how far we’ve come in 13 years, while also demonstrating our continued commitment to fighting the devastating effects of identity theft.” said Ron Black, President and CEO of Bank of Oak Ridge. “We want to help those in our community take precautions to protect their good names. Shredding sensitive documents is one small but powerful step.” Despite popular belief, the majority of identity theft involves non-electronic documents and offline transactions. Shredding properly destroys confidential materials and helps the environment by recycling paper. Shred Depot, a certified information destruction company, will shred company and personal documents for free, including any materials containing sensitive, private or confidential information, such as pre-approved credit offers, credit applications, past bank statements and expired credit cards.
