Paterson-Based Children’s Charity Receives Seal of Excellence

PATERSON, N.J. - April 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Medical Missions for Children (MMC), a Paterson, NJ-based non-profit organization dedicated to improving the medical outcomes of disadvantaged critically-ill children in the US and around the world, today announced its recognition by Independent Charities of America (ICA) as one of the country’s finest charities. On April 1, 2013, MMC was awarded the ICA Seal of Excellence Certification.

The Independent Charities Seal of Excellence is awarded to the members of Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness. These standards include those required by the US Government for inclusion in the Combined Federal Campaign, probably the most exclusive fund drive in the world. Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, or 5 percent, meet or exceed these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal.

Since its founding in 1999 by Frank and Peg Brady, MMC has served the medical needs of more than 40,000 children.  MMC’s main program areas include: (1) the Telemedicine Outreach Program, (2) the Medical Broadcasting Channel, (3) the Global Video Library of Medicine and (4) the Giggles Children’s Theater, which is located at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.
