The Ford Mobility Program Provides Disability Adaptive Equipment Reimbursements

Arlington Heights Ford is honoring manufacturer program that reimburses disabled individuals $1000 for equipment such as wheelchair lifts, ramps, carriers, and adaptive controls.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - April 1, 2013 - PRLog -- The Ford Mobility Motoring Program provides reimbursements of up to $1000 for individuals and organizations that want to equip their Ford or Lincoln vehicles with adaptive apparatuses for people with permanent physical disabilities. For complete details about the program, individuals in the area should stop by or contact Arlington Heights Ford (http://ahford.com/page/ContactUsForm3/master/secondary/Arlington-Heights-IL-Ford-Dealer), located at 801 West Dundee Road.

Equipment installations that are eligible for the program include wheelchair lifts, ramps, carriers, and adaptive controls. Additionally, up to $200 reimbursements are available for lumbar support, running boards, and alert hearing devices to assist those with hearing impairments. All installations must be completed by a Ford Authorized Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) in order to be eligible for the program reimbursement. The list of qualified QVMs is available through the Mobility Customer Care Center hotline at (800) 952-2248.

In order to qualify for the Ford Mobility Program, vehicles must have been purchased or leased at some point during the program period from an authorized Ford or Lincoln dealer and the equipment must be installed within one year of the date of lease or purchase. All modifications must be created with the sole purpose of making the vehicle more useful for the person for whom the modification is being made. Adaptations must be necessary for someone with a permanent physical disability to drive or be transported in a vehicle. Used models are not eligible for the program.

Once an individual or organization has determined that the adaptive equipment and modifications qualify for the program and has had the equipment installed by a Ford Authorized Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM), someone at a local Ford or Lincoln dealer like Arlington Heights Ford will assist with the submission of the claim. The Vehicle Bill of Sale (VIN) and Paid Adaptive Equipment invoice marked as paid and dated is required to process the reimbursement. In most cases the return check will arrive from the Ford Motor Company in two to four weeks.

A vehicle particularly well-equipped for the needs of individuals with physical disabilities is the 2013 Ford Transit (http://ahford.com/custom/2013-ford-transit-connect-van), available at Arlington Heights Ford. Those interested can contact Arlington Heights Ford at 847-481-0427 for inquiries about the Ford Transit and the Ford Mobility Program.
