MATTHEWS, N.C. - April 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Online Memorials 360 has been exposing scams involving the family members of recently deceased spouses.  Jefferson City police have posted a scam that Online Memorials 360 wants to show to the public.  The post from Jefferson City police reads as follows:

"Con artists are reading the obituaries looking for information on seniors that have passed away. They are then contacting the surviving spouse and telling them that they represent the Area Agency on Aging and they want to assist them with documents such as Power of Attorney, etc. A spokesperson from the Area Agency on Aging said they do not make such calls, nor do they offer those services."

This is very alarming and unfortunately there are many other scams targeting family members through obituaries.  Online Memorials 360 is giving free advice to people on how to post online obituaries privately so that friends and family can pay tribute to their loved pones without being exposed to scammers.  If you need help Online Memorials can be reached at 704-750-1969 or you can visit http://onlinememorials360.com/contact-3/

This has been a public service announcement from Online Memorials 360.
