By: David Taylor, ACTE A/S Robustel products enable third party equipment to be wirelessly connected using an on board RS232, RS485, Ethernet, USB serial connector to bridge with the on board 2G, 3G or 4G cellular connection. Products operate between -25˚C to 65˚C and accept voltage ranges from 9 – 60V DC enabling operation on a variety of systems including PoE. Antennas are mounted via an SMA connector which allows expansion to high gain aerials for use in poor signal environments. Robustel devices have a comprehensive range of onboard features including status LED’s, built in real time clock, watchdog and timers. A storage micro SD card holder is on board to allow up to 2GB data logging. Certain models include dual SIM card holders to help ensure cellular connectivity remains when continuity of service levels are important. David Taylor, PR Manager of ACTE U.K comments “The addition of Robustel Technologies into our product range significantly broadens ACTE’s portfolio of wirelessly enabled end equipment. Robustel quickly adopt new cellular technology into their range of equipment allowing Systems Integrators to quickly integrate new technology into their equipment without a major board design. Many third party systems have RS232, RS485 or USB serial ports already built into their equipment so the addition of a Robustel device offers a cost effective way of adding wireless connectivity as opposed to a wireless board development.” The Robustel agreement builds on the back of other wireless M2M franchise distribution announcements by ACTE during 2013. This includes Radiocrafts 169-2450MHz ISM band M2M modules and GNS GPS modules, both for embedded applications.
