David Ireland's Cosmic Glue Shaping Up For A Spring 2013 Release

There's a harder-edged feel about 'Cosmic Glue', drawing in 60s psychedelia with jazz-funk. Using new recordings and the long-lost 'Hot As Ice' masters from 1977 - 'Cosmic Glue' is set to be one the most unusual pairings of 2013

STROUD, U.K. - March 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Cosmic Glue is all set to be an exciting project. we recently unearthed a couple of twenty-four track master tapes from some recordings made in 1977. David Ireland transferred the tapes to digital format at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios in Box. Everyone concerned was astonished at the songs and performances and especially how current the music sounded.

Dave: 'Hidden among the tracks were two songs that had not been heard since the day we recorded them. I was blown away.

As a result I will be updating some songs, duetting with my younger self on others and even turning one song into two completely different ones.'

We're also preparing to take Cosmic Glue on the road this year. The songs work well in a solo acoustic form, but work equally well with a guest artist or two as well as the full band.

It's going to be quite a journey.

The first studio days have been wonderfully productive. We now have twelve tracks that have been short-listed for the album, with four more flying about trying to make the grade.

'Cosmic Glue' has a harder edge to it than 'A Twist Of Time'.

Dave: 'I'm working with a band unit for almost all the tracks this time. New songs have utilised the guys from Red River Blues who are seasoned musician who work intuitively and cleanly. They are a tight bunch of guys who draw from a long tradition on jazz and funk and blues.

Plus, my 1977 tracks were also recorded using a great team of musos (all still in the business...) and there are some interesting overlaps too. New guys playing with old guys and both my older and younger self!

Featured 2013 musicians include: Chris Egan - sax, Adam Adamson - violin, Rufus Fry  -harmonica, Chris Aylmer - bass, Mike Cooling - electric and acoustic guitars, Pol Bowman - fiddle, Richard Webb - drums, Stephan Marlot - cello.

'Boy In The Attic', 'Secret Lovers', 'Green Fingers', 'Home Made Mini', 'The Day That Elvis Died' and 'All I Wanna Do...' are among the new tracks ready for overdubs and definitive lead vocals.
