Online business authority Andrew Hiddleston presents a video on how to turn criticism in your favor (http://www.leanmeanmarketing.com/how-to-turn-criticism-in-your-favor). The video’s discussion covers essential insights on having negative comments and how you can handle those on your own blogs.

Not all people will like you. Similarly, not all “netizens” will like your product or service either (most especially when we talk about your competitor’s view of you and your product).

Andrew Hiddleston begins, “Obviously if you have a blog or if you put yourself out there and you ask for a public feedback or for public opinion, in one way or another, you're going to get negative feedback. Not everyone's going to like you, and not everybody's going to like what you're doing. Either ways, you have to learn how to deal with that and turn it around into a positive thing.”

What would you do if a surprisingly nice comment or maybe an offending negative feedback flashes on your website’s screen?

“You shouldn't just delete or not publish it or just pretend that it didn't happen. That's actually the worst response.”

“Remember, if someone's taken the time to read your article or to watch your video or to come to your website and they've taken even more of their time to write a comment to you about their personal opinion whether you agree with it or not, is really irrelevant. You need to publish that and you need to respond to it regardless of how you feel about it,” says Hiddleston.

He added, “I think one of the worst things for a visitor would be to visit a new site or to even visit a site that they've been to a few times and to finally leave a comment about their opinion and it doesn't get published or they don't even acknowledge that it happened. If it happened to me that would probably be the last time that I would visit that website.”

The business coach expresses that whether you have a positive or a negative site evaluation, you have to cope with it and face it. Having the guts to make a response in a professional and positive manner is the best and recommended thing to do.

“In doing the response, don't get defensive, you don't get angry, and you don't start a war of words. Respond to it in a positive light and try to engage that person. That one person who may have disagreed with you or maybe didn't even like you may end up starting to like you as a result of that, you just never know.”
