Follow on Google News | Mortgage Relief Fraud a Threat to Distressed Homeowners in LouisvilleFor homeowners in danger of losing their home to foreclosure, the difficulties of navigating their options are being complicated by the threat of mortgage relief fraud.
"Homeowners who are in danger of losing their home to foreclosure are especially bulnerable to these types of predaotrs," says Geoffrey Brandreth, CDPE, Louisville Area Realtors. "It is vitally important that these homeowners learn about the danger so they can protect themselves." Some of the most common scams include offering money-back guarantees, posing as a charity which helps homeowners in exchange for upfront fees, or posing as a bank representattive in order to get the homeowners to stop contacting their lenders. Just last month, the New York Tinmes reported about a ring of scammers who approached homeowners, saying they'd been pre-approved for a loan modification. The only thing they would have to do would be pay a few thousand dollars up front. This is a common tactic. As a Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE), Geoffrey Brandreth is specially trained to help homeowners who find themselves facing foreclosure while helping them avoid these types of scams. "It is important to me that homeowners know that they have options and to educate them to the dangers that exist," Brandreth said. Geoffrey Brandreth has developed a free report with more information on the dngers of mortgage relief fraud and what to look out for as a homeowner. The report, entitled, "Mortgage Fraud Alert! Don't Fall Victim to the 5 Most Dangerous Mortgage Relief Scams," is accessible from his website, www.StopKyForeclosures.com End
