ATLANTA - March 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Atlanta, GA- In January, 24 year-old Zaneta Hatch was killed in Huntsville, Alabama when the vehicle she was driving crashed while allegedly eluding her abusive boyfriend. News of her death sent shockwaves throughout her community, leaving an extensive host of loved ones in a cloud of mourning. Within days of her death, a Facebook fan page was established in her honor. In just a few short months, the webpage has exploded to virtually 1,000 “likes”—a number that hails in comparison to the number of people Zaneta’s life has actually touched. Searching for answers, many have been posting notes of grief and condolences. Sadly, the young mom also leaves behind her beautiful four year-old daughter.

For TSO Network Inc., this news really hit close to home! Zaneta Hatch is the daughter of the company’s own Founder/Executive Director, Dr. David Hatch. He is an esteemed minister and youth counselor who has dedicated his life’s work to championing outreach programs that address the plight of the homeless and help young people in need. He currently hosts his national radio talk show —Teens Speaking Out—which attracts over 2,500 bi-weekly listeners from all over the country who tune in to engage in important topics faced by teens. (Join in @ http://www.blogtalkradio.com/teens-speaking-out) While still mourning the tragic loss of his daughter, Dr. Hatch looks to God for strength as he garners his pool of resources to create a program through his organization that will help other teens and young women who are victims of domestic and dating violence.

Dr. Hatch shares these thoughts of his beloved daughter:
“I have been in ministry for 34 years and love to help disadvantaged and homeless people. Zaneta has been one of my greatest inspirations and I was her ‘super hero’, as she watched me minister to the homeless in the Atlanta, GA area for so many years. Zaneta really had a genuine love for people. She also had a passion and desire to help the homeless. She had empathy and compassion that compelled her to reach out to anyone who was going through a challenge or adversity. She felt wholeheartedly that EVERYONE deserves a chance. Although she faced her own adversities, she was always giving and endlessly forgiving. Her heart was big and her aspirations even bigger.”

To honor her memory, her father created "Zaneta’s House" in January 2013. The purpose and mission of Zaneta’s House is not only to honor her memory, but to make her dream of helping others a reality. The program will provide a safe haven for young women and their children who are homeless, at-risk or in crisis from abuse. Disadvantaged women will be placed in a nurturing home environment. Within the housing unit, they will receive transitional assistance to become self-sufficient, thus empowering them to live successfully on their own.

According to industry research, “Girls between the ages of 16-24 experience intimate partner violence at a rate almost 3 times the national average. Violent relationships have serious consequences for victims, putting them at high risk for eating disorders, substance abuse, risky sexual behavior and even suicide.” (Source: S.A.V.E.)

To address this alarming epidemic, the program’s goal is to serve as a safe haven, while providing education, prevention, crisis intervention, counseling, transitional housing and daily-living services to females. The program will target the needs of two different groups: Teens (ages 14-17) and Young Women (ages 18-24). Program services will be offered based on the age group and assessment of specific needs for each participant. The first transitional housing shelter has been located in the metro Atlanta, GA area. Qualified young women ages 18 and older, who will undergo a screening process, will be invited to live in the shelter for up to 6 months. Upon completion, participants can become eligible for subsidized housing through the program’s exclusive housing referral program. A second shelter is slated to open soon in Zaneta’s hometown of Huntsville, AL.
