New TalkPoint Survey Proves Webcasting Extends Reach & Reduces Budgets for Business Professionals

Webcasting, streaming media and mobile data show convenience and content prevail

NEW YORK - March 14, 2013 - PRLog -- TalkPoint, the leader in global communications technology, specializing in browser-based audio and video webcasting, today announced the results of its December 2012 Webcasting Usage Survey. The survey polled TalkPoint’s webcasting clients on their usage and preferences regarding webcasting, streaming media and mobile.

Survey respondents indicated that webcasting enhances their business communication efforts by extending messaging distribution and reaching a larger audience, while accounting for less travel and reducing budgets. The survey found the primary reason for hosting a webcast is to reach a larger audience (38.8%), generating revenue was second (16.3%). Using webcasts also cuts costs, as 59.2% of respondents said webcasting helped reduce their travel/meetings budget, in some cases by more than 30%.

Hosting events via webcast can also increase turnout. 69.9% of survey participants would rather use webcasting then attend an in-person event because they can attend at their convenience from any location. Offering mobile access to webcasts also increases participation, as respondents reported accessing data on mobile devices more than computers due to portability (45.2%) and convenience (41.9%). When asked what they would give up instead of their mobile device, 62.1% would rather give up coffee and surprisingly, 11.5% said their significant other. Sleep and vacation days tied at 10.3%.

“The survey results speak to what drives our business operations and technology innovation – helping our clients efficiently communicate to a larger audience while reducing budgets and generating revenue,” said Nick Balletta, CEO of TalkPoint. “While we don’t want our clients to give up their significant other for a mobile device, we do hope that our webcasting services, including our mobile delivery option and self-service platform, enable our customers to conveniently communicate across the globe.”

In terms of securing a strong webcasting audience, content is still king, and best practices webcasts are attended most often (21.4%) followed by corporate town halls/internal meetings (18.4%) and professional organization presentations (14.3%). Content is the biggest deciding factor in registering for a webcast, according to 82.8% of respondents.
