March 6, 2013 - PRLog -- University of Chester Photography with Fine Art students Lucinda Minton and Emma Carter met with Forum Shopping Centre manager Lawrence Allen this week to thank him for hosting their first exhibition within one of the centre’s vacant units.

Called Chiaroscuro II – the exhibition features images made up of dots and lines which have been created by the second year students to encourage audiences to interpret them from a personal point of view.

After being introduced to Mr Allen,  20 years old Lucinda from Buckley and Emma, 33, from Birkenhead, asked him how many members of the public would have seen their work over the duration of the exhibition. And when the Northgate shopping Centre Manager told them that approximately 200,000 people would have walked past the display since it opened a few weeks ago, they seemed visibly stunned

“That’s wonderful,” said Lucinda. “We are just so very grateful to have the opportunity of having our work exhibited in a popular shopping centre.

Emma, who pointed out that the exhibition title ‘Chiaroscuro’ meant ‘from light to dark’ added:” It really has been a wonderful experience for both of us. We hope members of the public enjoyed seeing our work.”

Mr Allen pointed out that the exhibition was just one of a number being staged across the city. The Forum alone is home to three different exhibitions by the University of Chester students and has donated the shop spaces entirely free of charge.

“We’re delighted to be able to help our university students with exhibition spaces,” added Mr Allen. “Supporting the students through their studies like this is our way of giving something back to the community. But it is also providing our valued shoppers with the opportunity to enjoy the various displays.

“In addition to our artistic exhibitions, our display of giant figures still has pride of place within the centre.”
