March 5, 2013 - PRLog -- The law offices of O’Connor & Mikhov are announcing new relief for Californian consumers building cases against car dealerships, manufacturers or others responsible for placing defective vehicles, or vehicle parts, on our roadways.

The new bill, AB1215, was introduced by Assemblyman Bob Blumenfield and was signed by Governor Jerry Brown. At its core, the law requires all new and used car dealerships to run their used car inventory against a federal database, The National Motor Vehicle Title Information System. If any significant problems are revealed, the dealership is mandated to label the car with a red warning sticker.

California already has one of the best Lemon Laws in the nation. The Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, commonly referred to as the “California Lemon Law,” provides broad protection to California consumers and a means to get rid of a defective vehicle. For those who have been injured or suffered other types of damages due to a defective car, truck, SUV, motorcycle, ATV, or other motor vehicle or vehicle parts, a product liability claim may be in order.

Some recent lawsuits involving vehicle defects include SUVs and ATVs that are prone to rolling over, tires prone to blowouts, and motorcycles that tend to “wobble” at certain speeds. A Lemon Law lawyer possesses knowledge and expertise that can assist consumers in winning cases against defectively manufactured vehicles or vehicle parts, or vehicles with an unreasonably dangerous design.

Commercial systems like Carfax and Experian cannot compel insurance companies or salvage yards to provide them with data, they depend on law enforcement agencies and the Department of Motor Vehicles for the information they receive. However, the federal system was designed to receive prompt information from insurance companies, salvage yards, and junkyards on vehicles that sustain severe damage due to floods, fires, or crash damage.

Identifying all potential defendants in a Lemon Law case is crucial and lemon law firms, such as O’Connor & Mikov, are knowledgeable about all new laws and changes pertaining to the California Lemon Law, and are experienced in fighting and winning such cases for their clients. This usually means adding all participants in the “chain of distribution” in the motor vehicle or vehicle parts to a claim, including manufacturers, parts manufacturers, car dealerships or automotive supply shops, middlemen or shippers, and used car dealerships.

A Lemon Law Lawyer California can help buyers get relief under the California Lemon Law, which requires consumers to provide manufacturers with a reasonable number of attempts to rectify a problem that greatly impairs the use, value, or safety of a vehicle. The new California law is arming consumers and Lemon Law firms with vital information and background that could help Lemon Law lawyers win cases for their clients, as well as provide added protection under the legal system for consumers.

A Lemon Law lawyer, like Mark O’Connor or Steve Mikhov, among other Lemon Law firms, are prepared to battle those who sell defective vehicles and vehicle parts and put consumers in danger. They are also ready to stand up to dealers who don’t follow the new California law.
