March 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Stanislav Ivashkevich, Associate Director, Hotels Department, CBRE, joins Helen Winsor of Construction IQ to discuss current trends and opportunities for hotels design and development in Russia - including the essentials of successful hotel design, the right operator selection, the challenges when launching hotel operations and successful management techniques to avoid these problems.

Construction IQ: Hello and welcome to this IQPC podcast presented by Construction IQ in conjunction with the Hotel Design and Development Conference Russia and CIS due to take place in April from 22nd to 24th in Moscow, Russia. I'm Helen Winsor, your host today, and I'm delighted to be joined by one of our key speakers at the forthcoming event, Stanislav Ivashkevich. Stanislav, welcome to the show. You're Associate Director for the Hotels Department at CBRE. It's great to have you here. How are you today?

S Ivashkevich: I'm fine, thank you.

Construction IQ: Fantastic. So first of all, would you mind talking through briefly about the current trends and opportunities for hotels design and development in Russia?

S Ivashkevich: Let's begin with a story that the hotel business in Moscow is very, very young and based in Russia too. So based on the number of hotels in Russia and in Moscow it looks like we have very few dozens of new hotels, which are based on modern standards of security and comfort of the guests. So that means that from the number of hotels we have right now most of them are new, so most of them look new and with modern design, so sometimes they look much better than the same hotel with the same brand outside of Russia. And so this is mostly the trend.

And then if we go to trend exactly based on interior design, I think, yes, we have some good products with the natural materials, with the quite straight lines and a mix of classical and modern furniture. So from the guests' perspective it looks very nice.

Construction IQ: Thank you for that summary, Stanislav. So leading on from that, what are the essential criteria of a successful hotel design?
