PRLog -- On February 19, 2013, United States District Judge, The Honorable Chief Judge Carol B. Amon, approved a settlement reached between the Plaintiff, Stephanie R. and the City of New York defendants. In a Complaint filed in the Eastern District of NY on October 22, 2012, the Plaintiff brought causes of action for false arrest, unlawful stop and search, unreasonable force and fabrication of evidence. The Complaint alleged that while the Plaintiff was standing at a Brooklyn street corner waiting for the bus home, she was approached by numerous NYPD officers who demanded that she back up. Thereafter, it was alleged that the officers searched and frisked her, subsequently making false allegations about her to the Kings County District Attorney's Office. At her criminal court arraignment, the criminal charges that had been levied against her were adjourned in contemplation of dimissal.
Stephanie R. was happy with the swift resolution of this matter and pleased with the compensation she will be receiving as a vindication of her rights.
