The Black Dog Nominated for the 2013 CSPA Book of the Year Award

Book by John R. Dolan on anxiety and depression has been nominated for the 2013 Christian Small Publishers Association Book of the Year Award.

Feb. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Signalman Publishing is very honored to announce that The Black Dog by Reverend John R. Dolan of Western Springs, Illinois, has been nominated for the 2013 Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year in the Non-fiction / Christian Living category.

Illustrated by Paul J. Egel, this book is about the struggle of one man, a highly successful corporate executive, with depression and anxiety.

Anxiety and depression have always been taboo in society. Frequently, the subjects cannot be touched with a “ten-foot pole”, let alone be up for family discussion. Depression is seen as neither worthy of compassion nor understanding. For the author, a familiar record plays. “Young man, depressed? Nonsense; you have everything you need; just buck up and face the world the way we all have to.”  This book describes the mental and physical struggles with anxiety and depression, but most importantly the power of the Holy Spirit that eventually enabled the author to develop resilience—and then lead him into the sunlight of a full and meaningful life. The message in this book is one of hope and of love and a demonstration of what is possible when you place your life, unconditionally, in the hands of Jesus Christ.

John McClure, president of Signalman Publishing, stated, “We are thrilled to have The Black Dog as a nominee for the 2013 CSPA Book of the Year. This book really helps people understand a condition that affects so many in society. Rev. Dolan tackles it head on with his own experience that is eloquently and powerfully described.”

The final 2013 Book of the Year selection is based on voting by retailers, publishers, authors and readers. The voting ballot can be accessed online at: http://www.christianpublishers.net/13votes/
