M2 Optics Expands Density of Optical Network Tap Platform

Feb. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC – M2 Optics Inc. announced today that they have upgraded the SplitLight, the industry’s highest-density optical tap solution, to now offer as many as 160 taps in a single 1RU chassis.  This is a 25% increase from the initial version (released at the beginning of the year) that had allowed for up to 128, already far exceeding most solutions in the market.

As the demand for higher speeds and the deployment of optical networks continues to grow, a major challenge faced by many network operators, data centers, and large enterprises is managing rack space in the most efficient manner.  When the amount of networking equipment that is required to run these networks rises, the available rack space decreases - especially in Metro areas with limited space to begin with.  Thus, operators must compliment their network equipment with solutions like the SplitLight, which offer the highest efficiency in the smallest footprint possible.
