O'Brien Construction Company Opens Registration for First Session of Small Business Seminar Series

Feb. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- O’Brien Construction Company, Inc. (www.obriencc.com) announced the opening of registration for the first session of the organization’s Small Business Seminar Series taking place at its offices at 966 Livernois in Troy on Feb. 28.

This annual series is designed to assist small or minority-owned construction-related businesses achieve growth and improve their day-to-day operations.  The first session is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 28 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.  Topics and speakers for this event include:

• Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 3 requirement for Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) funded projects (speaker: Guy Stockard, MSHDA Statewide Section 3 Coordinator)

• How to better manage certified payroll, prevailing wage rates and apprentice requirements for MSHDA-funded projects (speaker: Etta Henderson, MSHDA Labor Relations Specialist)

• Latest Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) documentation requirements for MSHDA-funded projects (speaker: Melissa Patrick, MSHDA Program Reporting Specialist

“We have found that even some of our best subcontractor partners need help or advice running their small businesses from time to time,” said O’Brien Construction Company President Tim O’Brien.  “As a result, we developed this series aimed at strengthening subcontractors’ building capacities.”
