Jan. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- It is now being said that the vast majority of usage of the internet on smartphones is to find out information about local businesses. This then turns into action with over 80% of people making contact with the Business that they have been looking for.

One person who has decided to get the word out to local business owners is Jon Lake at D & J Marketing in Devon, UK. Jon said “QR Codes are on the rise and yet are still relatively under utilised method for businesses to reach not only their current customers but also attract new ones too! Many businesses see QR codes as something used by larger companies, but they are just as effective for local Mom and Pop businesses as well”

Large brands like Coca Cola and BMW have fully embraced the use of QR Codes and use them to drive people to Special Offers and Promotions.

Mr Lake went on to say that “As a local Business owner, I know, without a shadow of a doubt that the vast majority of my competitors will not be using QR Codes as part of their marketing strategies. However, as so many local Businesses are struggling in this current economy, I feel that I should share my knowledge with others to give them an extra marketing weapon in their arsenal”

QR Codes have actually been around for almost 20 years, when they were invented by the Japanese motor industry to track vehicles through the manufacturing process. Nowadays the possibilities are endless!
